Deflated...

I am feeling deflated- both figuratively and literally...
This week I started weaning my son. He's eating more and more finger foods and not nursing as much as he used to. I hoped to nurse a full year like I did with my daughter, but my son is a BIG, hungry boy. With my recent breast pumping attempts, I was lucky to collect an ounce of milk. I thought this moment would bring such elation-to be free. Instead, I find I'm feeling quite sad. I won't have that special bond to share with my son anymore. He's growing up.
Or maybe I'm just upset that my boobs have lost their fullness and are once again...silly putty.

speaking of feeling deflated, I felt a little that way myself for the past 2 years! Ever since my second daughter weaned, I just wasn't liking the mushy zip lock baggy of mashed peas that I had for boobs. So I did something totally out of character... I had a boob job!! When you think boob job, you often think of the bleach-blonde-6-inch-heeled-manicured-golden-tanned hottie that heads to gym after a long day of microdermabrasion, but I asure you I don't even wear make-up... ever! In my case I just wanted a little something under the shirt that made me feel like I was still in the running, still just as much of a woman as I am a mom. I actually got the smallest possible implant that I could get the doctor to agree to (i still have a pretty good amount of breast tissue, and I didn't want to look like a porn star!), and I gotta say, the result is awesome! I was a little scared during my first week post surgery that they were too big, but now (at two weeks post) the swelling has gone down enough that they look gorgeous!! And totally natural! So for any one who thinks that boob jobs are just for the vain... Think again. They can be for the every day mom, just lookin for a little boost! (pardon the pun!!)

You're mother told me you were getting a boob job. I'm so glad you did it for yourself-if they look and feel as good as you say-you might convince me to get a new pair!

What made it even more humiliating is that my husband signed up with a different temp agency, and they sent him on a job for more money with no interview, even though I would have been much more qualified to do "data entry" than he is. His typing is rather slow and inaccurate. I'll have to sign up with that agency to do an apples-to-apples comparison.
